HOPING's Got Talent
On 18th June 2009 we held HOPING's Got Talent, an evening of song, dance and comedy from our celebrity performers. Held at Cafe de Paris and hosted by Patrick Kielty with Sotheby's auctioneer Olly Barker, the evening raised £318,000 for Palestinian refugee youth. The evening began with a live auction to raise money for two Media and Photography Units in the West Bank, Museum trips in Gaza and Arts, Sports and Education projects for young Palestinians across the Middle East. The audience then continued to raise money by pledging for their favourite act in the talent show. The eventual winners, Lily Allen & Jamie Hince, were the act that had raised the most throughout the evening. Performing in front of judges Jeremy Clarkson, Kate Moss and Louis Walsh, our incredible line up of acts included Shane MacGowan and Sam Taylor Wood, David Walliams, Will Self with Kimberly Stewart, Frances Ruffelle and Sadie Frost, Will Young, Suggs, Lily Allen and Jamie Hince. As the final act of the show, Kate Moss took to the stage with Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, receiving a standing ovation from the audience and bringing to a close a magical evening in aid of young Palestinian refugees.
