Strengthening Youth Centres, Balata refugee camp

HOPING gave a grant to a community association in Balata camp to purchase furniture for the centre. As well as being used for the organisation’s activities, the chairs and tables will be rented out to the camp’s residents for weddings and celebrations, creating a stream of income for the centre.

We also gave a grant to another centre in Balata camp to cover their utility, repairs and cleaning costs. Community centres struggle to receive funding from NGOs to cover their bills. A key part of HOPING’s grant-making is to ensure that community centres can pay their rent and associated costs, and keep their doors open for the children in the camp.
