The HOPING Variety Show

On 21st November 2011, guests at 'The HOPING Variety Show' were treated to a magical night of entertainment in support of Palestinian refugee children. 

Jonathan Ross and Alan Carr hosted the evening at Cafe de Paris, where guests could bid to hear performances by the incredible line up of artists, including The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rizzle Kicks, Jimmy Carr, Jarvis Cocker, Boy George and Gemma Arterton. 

The show began with one of Britain's freshest and most exciting duos, Rizzle Kicks performing their hit 'Down with the Trumpets'. Jimmy Carr followed with a five minute stand up set before Jarvis Cocker serenaded his highest bidder with a rendition of Phyllis nelson's 'Move Closer'. Tracey Emin generously gave an impromptu offer to auction off a picture of Jarvis for the charity.

In between these exceptional acts, Oliver Barker of Sotheby's, with the help of Alan Carr and Jonathan Ross, encouraged guests to bid for their favourite acts to take to the stage to raise money for the children of Palestine. Boy George continued the show with his timeless classic "Do you really want to hurt me?" before Gemma Arterton gave a brilliant and uncanny impersonation of Mick Jagger singing the Rolling Stones song 'Sympathy for the Devil'.

The show came to an end with a sensational two song set by The Red Hot Chili Peppers who performed their legendary hits 'Californication' and 'By the Way'. The evening raised over £392,000 for the HOPING Foundation's activities for Palestinian refugee children.
