Gaza Emergency Appeals
Gaza, occupied Palestine
In the first weeks of the attacks on Gaza, Hoping asked friends to help us support two Palestinian institutions providing emergency relief, the Palestine Red Crescent Society, and the Welfare Association. We were grateful to be able to donate £31,300 to their Emergency Appeals. Hoping’s work in Gaza focuses on medium and long term activities for Palestinian children, and we felt confident that these two well established Palestinian institutions were the best placed to deliver the assistance so desperately needed during the crisis.

The Palestine Red Crescent Society is responsible for most emergency and other medical care in Gaza. During the bombardment this included evacuating the wounded from damaged buildings, giving first aid, and transferring them to hospital where they provided extra staff to help cope with the huge number of patients. Their emergency appeal is to raise money for medical supplies, relief items, and ambulances in addition to the core cost of their emergency operations. The Welfare Association have been providing urgently needed fuel and medical supplies to hospitals and health centres in Gaza, as well as food packages and blankets to over 3,000 families.
